This is becoming a really hot and topical issue, not to mention expensive and sensitive point.
Whilst medical aids cover what is considered medical treatment, fertility treatment does not fall into this category.
Yet the ability to procreate is natural and if there is a medical inability to conceive naturally, the only alternative is to consider adoption or fertility treatment. People elect one of these options on personal reasons and as we are all individuals - we certainly have the right to elect just which option is more suited.
How do we go about getting South African medical aids to pay for fertility treatment?
In the UK, I believe government pays for one IVF per year.
Imagine the difference that would make for so many people - if the South African government or medical aids or a commissioned body would pay for one IVF per annum, even one IVF every two years, even contribute half of an IVF cost per annum?
How do we get a movement on this issue? How do we help people who desperately want babies to conceive but cannot because they cant afford fertility treatment?
baby2mom supports and understands the need and emotion around desperately wanting a baby and is committed to helping this cause.
